It is also an opportunity to network with other Parler Paris readers.

*Special Note: Anyone attending Parler Paris Après Midi must be willing to have their photograph taken and a brief description written about them for publishing in Parler Paris. Your presence indicates your willingness to participate.

MEETING OF OCTOBER 10, 2006
(Photos do not match the descriptions!)

When the first to enter the upper dining room of La Pierre du Marais sit dead center at the round table, everyone else follows suit and sits in a circular pattern facing center. It's a phenomena I've witnessed time and time again no matter how many come to have coffee, wine or whatever and conversation.

Mary Ellen Gallagher was back...for good. Hook or crook, she's bound and determined to find a way to make living here work for her and her pocketbook.

Sheila Kern, an American commercial and fine artist living/decorator who is now here after some time in Ireland joined us once again.

Filmmaking expert Judith Merians gave a filmmaking workshop this past Saturday, thanks to our connection last month at La Pierre du Marais, then came again to say hello before she heads back to the States this weekend. Allan Smid, native of Amsterdam, but raised in Argentina and educated in Missouri in journalism, has worked for the International Herald Tribune and the Associated Press and has lived in Paris since the '70's. He and Judith became fast friends at Après Midi last month and now seem particularly attached to one another.

Mary Louise Stillman, jewelry designer, who has become a regular visitor to Après Midi, was wearing one of her beautiful creations and showing it off for all to appreciate.

Patricia Laplante-Collins, of Paris Soirées, as always, was present with her pup, Eve. She just moved to a new and much larger apartment in the Sentier that everyone says is the perfect new venue for her Wednesday and Sunday soirées.

Anne Cutrer, native New Orleanian who attended the Living and Investing in France Round Table last May in New Orleans, is here for just a month, hoping to make Paris home for the rest of her life.

Paul and Paris (yes, her name is really "Paris!) Tannish were former residents of the city and return often for business (ParisByParis.com). Paul is an accomplished musician, Paris is a tour guide and together they plan on making Paris home again.

Robert Mandel lives in New York, but is thinking of Paris as a new home. Joel Pelaez and his wife have an apartment here, spending three months a year enjoying it, but would like to make Paris home...create a business or find a job. Today, he had pup Toulouse with him, not the wife.

Rita Hirsch, a retired educator, is back. She's still dreaming of an apartment in Paris and is now renting in the 18th to test it out.

Parler Parlor member Emmanuelle Cuchet came to test her English after years in London. This is her chance to stay in touch with the international community, polish her English and explore her ideas to offer a cooking class for Expatriates.

Karen Crumbliss hadn't been around for a while, but she comes to Paris when her husband works with other professors of chemistry...starting way back in 1978.

Marian Socash is a fitness coach in Paris for the last 9 years, ever since having left Hong Kong. She is always interested in working with clients who are serious about improving their fitness and shape so they can enjoy guilt-free wining and dining in the City of Light.

Libbie Griffin is here only one month, like Ann, and is studying at the Alliance Française. Her plans are to retire here someday.

Jeanne Velu has a French husband who was transferred to Paris for three years. That was five years ago! They just bought a small company helping companies relocate their employees to France -- find housing, get visas, etc.

Caryn Shaye arrived with her friend, Lynn Meinhardt. Caryn has a new career as an independent distributor for multi-level marketing company called "Young Living" for the health and wellness sector. Lynn, a retired French teacher, comes to Paris two to three times a year and manages an apartment in Paris for friends who live in Springfield, Missouri.

Peter Weisberg became a regular member of Parler Parlor and still comes to chat at Après Midi. Madelaine Georgette lives in Le Marais four months of the year, the rest of the time in Seattle. She's a mixed-media artist enjoying the museums, galleries and endless cultural opportunities, but most of all enjoys the European perspective on life and world affairs.

That started a huge discussion...as you can imagine!
