MEETING OF October 11, 2005
(Photos do not necessarily match descriptions.)

Imagine my surprise when I sauntered down to La Pierre du Marais for yesterday's Parler Paris Après Midi only to find it busy with workman renovating it! Thinking fast on her feet, Marketing Director Lynda Sydney suggested the newly opened Le Bistrot, at the other end of rue de Bretagne, as the next best thing for a coffee gathering venue. Le Bistrot was happy to see us, suddenly turning their quiet afternoon into a free-for-all. The glass walls were open, the tables spilling on to the sidewalk, as we all enjoyed the fabulously warm and sunny unseasonal weather.

French Property Insider Property Search Consultant, Ellen Jung Josse just celebrated a birthday, but took time to come to Après Midi and have a coffee with Parler Paris Marketing Director and Torontonian, Lynda Sydney. Long-time Après Midi visitor Gar Westfall of Hawaii is winding down his six weeks here, while Amy Hersh, wife of Allyn Hertzbach, is planning on spending the rest of her days here.

Allyn Hertzbach, from Washington, DC and a regular at Parler Parlor, took up a chat with Beth Eckenrod, who lives on a barge in the Seine with her husband, Jim. Tom Regan is a long-time (since 2000) but part-time Marais resident with an apartment on rue Saint Paul in the 4th arrondissement retiring here because "Paris is the most beautiful city in the world." He joins us from time to time at Après Midi and Parler Parlor. Merrill Turner, a retiree living in Florida and Maryland has toyed with living in Paris a long time. Torontonian John Rule came to Paris to be with his three-year-old daughter and is looking for work in the asset management industry.

Robert Larrea is a regular we can count on to show up with a smiling face and great conversation. He's talking with red-headed Serena Mitchell. William Holtzman is just visiting, but is hoping to buy and then rent an apartment within the next 12 months.

Al Stewart of Business-Mentors.com chats playfully with Veran Steckel, from El Paso, who has made it to Paris 8 times. Patricia Laplante Collins of Paris Soirées, who attends as always, with her pup, Eve, this time brought along Mark Dolman, "flanneur" from City College of San Francisco and guest lecturer at the American University of Paris. Yolanda Robins, French Property Insider Property Manager, manages to sneak in a visit between apartment visits.

Eric Tolbert, came laden with a picture of his new black cocker spaniel pup

Non pictured is Laura Savulesco, who comes from time to tiem.
