MEETING
OF July 12, 2005
(Photos do not necessarily match descriptions.)
My
daughter, Erica, showed up with her boyfriend,
Yannick Rault, having just returned from a week in Morocco,
with her hands painted in henna and looking very tan and relaxed. It
was a first appearance at Après Midi -- in fact, she asked me
later what we were all doing there! Oh to be young and unaware...
Pamela
and Jim Leavy have become regulars to all our events...now
permanent residents of Paris. Wannabee resident, Diana Wright,
is an Angeleno with a dream to move to Paris, studying at the Sorbonne
all summer long and hoping to meet the Frenchman of her dreams.
Eugene
Profit switched from indoor glasses to cool specs for the pic
-- here for his summer vacation, but one-time Paris resident, he once
inherited a suitcase of mine -- the largest one you've ever seen. He
says it houses some pretty important stuff, like having a small shed
on wheels.
Mystery
Diane escaped without telling us much about herself...but
cooled off with a tall beer.
Not pictured
is: Mary Ellen Gallagher, who once lived in Paris and
sadly misses it...yearning for a way to return and think we may have
some answers for her.
Old
friend, Jack Lampert tries never to miss a session
while he's in Paris, chatted up with Beth Eckenrod...still
living on a barge on the Seine.
New
Yorker, Dolores Marquez Litchfield made friends with
Parler Paris Marketing Manager, Lynda Sydney. She manages
an apartment on the Ile Saint Louis year-round and is looking for another
apartment for a group of buyers.
Cheryl
Bailey and Robert Larrea happily come every month to share stories.
Not pictured
is: Hans Hendrick, well-known hair stylist, showing
off the spread in Glamour Magazine about him and his pet parrot, Lord
B.
Mai
Nguyen and Wendy Newman became friendly...Mai
is a regular at Parler Parlor, happy about an apartment she and her
French husband just made an offer on. She's working on her French andlooking
for work. Wendy has been here 18 months, took French at the Sorbonne
and works as a manicurist. She has an apartment to rent on a long term
basis while she heads back to Australia for a bit of time.
Sandra
Syms, a real-estate agent from New York must have been making
deals while I caught her off-guard, but looking chic, nonetheless.
Vincent
Menill and Barry Burros, from New York, keep
an apartment here and in Florida to spend their time enjoying it all.
They joke...they have no goals...having fun is what it's all about.
Judy
Glickman of Los Gatos and Yolanda Robins,
FPI Property Manager, stopped in between apartment visits to say hello.
They were elated to find an apartment just a few blocks away that Judy
could call her own -- and is a few meters larger than their home in
Los Gatos -- once a chicken coop and the smallest house in Santa Clara
County!
Patricia
Laplante Collins was just introduced to Chantal Goldstein,
chair of the city's Charte de Qualité project for Bed and Breaksfasts
in the City of Light. Patricia doesn't miss a meeting, along with her
pup, Eve (not pictured). She's the queen of networking -- don't miss
her Wednesday and Sunday night gatherings. Write
parissoirees@noos.fr for more information.
