MEETING
OF February 14, 2006
Sally Robbins-Druian of The French Cellar Regional Wines and Objects from France in Los Gatos, California comes to shop the flea markets, visit the museums, dine in great restaurants and see her vendors and friends who live here. She happily chats with other long blonde-haired beauties: Setara Delawari, from Kabul, Afghanistan, who works with the United Nations on the reconstruction of Afghanistan, is president of Women in Film in Kabul and came to Paris for meetings and to visit family in Lyon; Jennifer Scibetta, who attended a talk I gave almost two years ago in Washington, DC, is now a student here, with two kids and is looking for ways to stay; and Lynda Sydney, Parler Paris Marketing Director from Toronto, Canada. Gordon Heathfield, a Brit who has been here since 1983 with a Japanese wife, two great kids and works in real estate, got to know Patsy and Gil Murray who traded a French couple their house for five months and Ted and Mary Johnson, both French professors who come to France all the time, visits with friends they've had here more than 40 years and keeps exploring France. Geraldine Kaylor came to Après Midi "to see Adrian" -- a long time friend who spends many months a year in Paris with her math professor husband, is fluent in French and currently working on improving her Italian. She's catching up on the news with another long-time friend Dale Novick Gaber, a New Orleanian who spends at least half the year or more in Paris, while assisting her father in reconstruction of their New Orleans home and taking on psychotherapy clients. Martha Bills, attendee of a past Living and Investing in France Conference, is planning on relocating here a soon as she can, while checking out the various Paris neighborhoods. She amazingly recognized long-time friends, Alan and Kati Lewis, who also were attendees of a past conference (not the same one!) recently closed their restaurant of 27 years, ready now to make the next move...perhaps it's Paris. Mary Ellen Gallagher just sold her U.S. home and is ready to move to Paris. Pascal Jouy, French, just came back home after 10 years abroad and now misses speaking English! Delores Lilley, who is looking forward to a trip to Minja, Costa del Sol in Andalusia and then will celebrate her birthday in March over lunch in Normandy with Susan Loomisi, leans in to hear what Marylouise Sillman has to say, who had travelled to France more than 30 times then decided to make it home 17 years ago. Ellen Jung Josse, FPI's property search consultant, fits right in and gets to know our readers...while they all get to know each other, too.
